Ex-Wife of Former NFL QB Breaks Down in Tears After Son Is Injured in Football Game

Kristin Cavallari is no stranger to going viral for candid remarks on her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, where she often discusses eye-opening or controversial topics. However, this week, the spotlight shifted to a more personal subject: her oldest son, Camden, and his experience with tackle football.

Cavallari, the ex-wife of former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, opened up about her son Camden’s new venture into the world of tackle football. Camden, who is currently in sixth grade, is playing in a league where he faces off against much bigger seventh and eighth graders. Initially, Cavallari tried to keep her emotions in check about her son playing such a physical sport, but after witnessing him get “roughed up” on the field, she found it impossible to hold back her feelings any longer.

She opened up on the pain of seeing her son get tackled by an opponent

On the latest episode of her podcast, Cavallari shared how difficult it has been to watch her son take hits during games. “Thinking of him being scared out there just wrecks me,” she said, according to TMZ. “It just wrecks me—more so than the physical aspect. Obviously, physically, I don’t want him to get hurt. And then he got hit a couple of other times. It’s so hard seeing your baby get hit.”

Cavallari explained that her motherly instincts kicked in after seeing Camden on the receiving end of a particularly hard hit. She could tell immediately that he was frightened, and that realization was heartbreaking for her. The emotional toll of seeing her son struggle on the field has been tough for the reality star and entrepreneur, who admitted that it’s been harder than she expected to watch her child face the dangers of such a rough sport.

Football is, of course, in Camden’s blood. His father, Jay Cutler, was a successful NFL quarterback, earning a Pro Bowl nod and accumulating over 35,000 passing yards and 227 touchdowns over his career.

Despite this legacy, Cavallari made it clear that Camden is under no pressure to continue playing football if he doesn’t want to. “He can hang up his cleats whenever he wants,” Cavallari said, leaving the decision entirely up to her son.

Camden is the eldest of her three kids with ex-husband Jay Cutler; the exes seen in 2019

For now, though, Camden seems to be navigating the challenges of tackle football with support from both of his parents. Whether he continues to pursue the sport or decides to step away, his mom’s emotional reaction reflects the difficult balance many parents face when watching their children participate in physically demanding activities.

While Cavallari is proud of Camden for taking on the challenge, seeing her son get “roughed up” on the field is a reminder that, at the end of the day, he’s still her baby—no matter how tough the sport may be.
