His parents had divorced by the time he was born.That meant his mother, Julie, would have to look after him and his brother, Jeremy. Poyer is an Oregon native, who was born in Dallas and raised in Astoria. As a result, he is a true city guy from Oregon. Jordan’s parents are both Americans, and he has no foreign ancestors as far as we know.Poyer also attended Astoria High School in Astoria, Oregon. It was there that his football prowess was first recognized. He was regarded as a good multi-sport talent coming out of high school.
